The government will pay attention to operations of special economic zones and advance development territories to prevent their use for unjustified benefits and violation of competition principles, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday at the meeting with representatives of business circles of Orenburg Region.

“Such matters should be definitely examined and additionally regulated or control should be more strict and thorough,” the president said.

Certain companies are using special economic zones for unjustified benefits and violation of competition principles, business representatives said at the meeting.

The government understands unequal competition conditions may occur in special economic zones, the head of state said. “The goal of creating special economic zones and advance development territories is to attract new technologies, especially where they are not present, rather than to create environment for unequal competition.

If a company is established for such purpose that can be set up without any benefits, then such move is absolutely ungrounded,” the Putin added.
