Russian President Vladimir Putin will most probably declare Russia’s interest in developing cooperation with the foreign business at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June, press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.

“The work on the president’s speech has just started. It’s premature to make any forecasts, although it can be said with a high degree of confidence that the President will highlight our interest in foreign investments, interest in continuing and broadening cooperation with the foreign business,” Peskov said.

It’s early to say relations between Russia and other countries have improved, Peskov said. “Indeed we may say we are more likely to pass now through the period of turbulence in relations with the whole range of countries, the period with shortage of mutual confidence,” he added.

“Russia is an integrated part of the global economy and we are certainly interested in expanding cooperation in the most diverse areas,” Peskov said commenting on the message to the foreign business at the SPIEF.

“The message is that Russia remains a fairly capacious market, remains the nation aimed at the whole range of major projects to get rid of the oil curse and embark on the innovative development path,” he said.

“Growth drivers should be looked for in other areas and not in the oil sector,” Peskov added.
