BRICS labour and employment ministers will hold their first meeting in Ufa on 25-26 January 2016. The meeting will focus on the Policy of Creating High-Quality Jobs and Available Employment.

The issues under discussion will include ways to improve the productivity and quality of professional training, the development of professional standards, labour mobility, the development of employment services, the rights of the workforce and the unemployed, enhanced work safety and other issues.

The following experts are expected to speak at the event: Director General of the International Labour Organisation Guy Ryder, Secretary General of the International Social Security Association Hans-Horst Konkolewsky, Vice President for Global Practice Cross-Cutting at World Bank Group Keith Hansen, Chairman of the Russian Pension Fund Anton Drozdov, Chairman of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia Mikhail Shmakov, and President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Shokhin.

The event will include a briefing of Russian Minister of Labour and Social Protection Maxim Topilin.

The meeting will end with the signing of the Declaration of the BRICS Ministers of Labour and Employment, which will reflect the issues of integrating policies aimed at formalising the labour market, expanding high-quality and inclusive employment, reducing social tensions and fostering economic growth.
