Moscow hopes common sense will prevail eventually, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says

Severing of commercial flights between Ukraine and Russia is a fully absurd action standing at variance with both countries’ interests, President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.

“We’ve said many a time the severing of commercial flights between Ukraine and Russia is a fully absurd action, which runs counter to the interests of airlines and, most importantly, to the interests of Russians and Ukrainians,” Peskov said. “We hope common sense will prevail eventually.”

When a reporter asked him for a comment on mass media reports that pranksters had gotten down to exploiting the situation around the suspension of flights between the two neighboring countries, Peskov said: “We’d like to hope they’ll stay away from a situation as serious as this one.”
