The Russian government is not planning to raise taxes until 2018, “although calls [to do so] are heard constantly,” Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev was quoted as saying by the RIA Novosti news agency on Monday.
“Russia’s current economic situation is harsh, but we believe that we can manage without changes to the tax system,” Medvedev said.
Medvedev said that “there are still reserves” left in the tax system. He also said that it is important for the system to remain stable.
“We adhere to the principle of tax stability, but that does not mean it will last forever. In a few years, new realities will probably emerge,” Medvedev said, the Interfax news agency reported.
