Taking part in the event will be representatives of the BRICS countries, the World Bank, international organisations specialised in sanitary and epidemiological well-being, as well as the leading Russian and foreign researchers in infectious disease prevention and treatment.
The main topic of the conference will be the contribution of the BRICS countries to strengthening international mechanisms for responding to healthcare emergencies in the wake of the recent Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
In addition, participants will discuss prospects for stepping up cooperation within the BRICS to prevent and combat HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis, and also joining efforts to develop immunobiological and diagnostic products.
