According to the Brazilian newspaper Valor Economico, Brazil is benefiting from the embargo that Europe and the United States imposed on Russia, after the Ukraine crisis.

Since July, Brazilian exporters and Russian importers are straightening relations and Brazil is signing important contracts to sell butter, cheese and other milk derived products, which Russia used to buy from the European countries that put sanction on her.

From January this year to September, Brazil exported USD 1 million, a value that represented 182 tons of butter and 118 tons of cheese. The volume is still small, but there is a huge potential to increase, since Brazil and Russia had just recently signed the Sanitary Protocol that allows Brazilian companies to export milk products to Russia.

Currently, Brazil has 23 companies authorized to export milk products to Russia.
