Russia has decided to continue working on agreements with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) despite the organization decided to suspend Russia’s accession.

OECD Secretary-General Jose Angel Gurria has informed Russia’s delegation about the organization’s decision. “Unfortunately, the OECD took a political decision to suspend the procedure of Russia’s accession. There is no doubt that this fact will have an impact on the rates of the accession,” a Russian government official said.

Russia has never guaranteed the term of the accession. It realizes that much will depend on partners’ position, the official said, adding: “We hope that the OECD will revise the decision soon.”
