India interested in gas supplies from Russia in the amount of up to 25 billion cubic meters per year, Deputy Energy Minister Yuri Sentyurin told reporters.
The parties are considering options of delivery of gas through the pipeline, as well as through swaps, he said.
“They [India – TASS] defined their shortfall of up to 25 billion cubic meters of gas a year, they calculated the demand, made forecasts and found that they have this deficit uncovered. Therefore, they are trying to diversify suppliers, actively cooperate with other parties, with Qatar, with Iran where the situation is changing. We also hear often about such a project, as TAPI – from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan and Pakistan to India. So different versions are being considered, including our country, everyone is aware of our gas potential. We are in an intensive dialogue with Indians,” he said.
Senturin noted that the parties consider not only supplies of pipeline gas but also of LNG. According to him, Gazprom is interested in exporting LNG to India.
“Not only the possibility of delivery through the pipe is being considered but also a swap option considering the lifting of sanctions from Iran, and other options – let’s say supplies of gas in a liquefied state from the portfolio of Gazprom…” he said.
