Russia’s Federal Customs Service (FCS) says about the decline in the imports of goods from the country to non-CIS countries in value terms by five percent to 36.518 billion U.S. dollars in the first two months of the, as compared to the same period of 2013.

In February 2014, the import of goods from non-CIS countries amounted to 19.822 billion U.S. dollars, which was 18.7 percent more than in the first month of the year.

Herewith, the import of chemicals went up by 30.8 percent to 3.328 billion U.S. dollars, import of foodstuffs and raw materials for their production – grew 19.2 percent to 3,024 billion U.S. dollars, import of textiles and footwear – 18.5 percent to 1.45 billion U.S. dollars, and machine-building products – 13 percent to 9.369 billion U.S. dollars.

The import drops by 7.8 percent as compared to February 2013. Herein, the Customs Service points to the decline in the chemicals import by 9.8 percent, machine-building products – by 9.7 percent, and textile and footwear – by 6.7 percent. Moreover, the country raised foods import by 0.9 percent.
