NEW DELHI: Chinese phone brand LeEco has filed an application with the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) for opening single-brand retail stores in India. The company, which sells devices such Le1S and LeMax, has so far sold around 3.15 lakh units in India since beginning operations in February this year.

LeEco sells its phones through Flipkart and now plans to start sales from offline retail stores. “We have received a good response and now plan to open our own stores and online website. We have filed an FIPB application,” company India COO Atul Jain said.

LeEco will launch 2-3 new phone models in India apart from starting the sale of televisions which will be launched by June. Jain said the company intends to open its store in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
