China and Mongolia want a trilateral summit with Russia to further strengthen cooperation among the three neighbors.

The endorsement was conveyed in a joint declaration signed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Mongolian counterpart, Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, during Xi’s ongoing state visit to Mongolia.

“Both sides support a Mongolian proposal to hold a trilateral meeting between leaders of China, Mongolia and Russia,” said the document, published on Friday.

The two nations urged to boost three-way cooperation with Russia, also within the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair.

Mongolian President Elbegdorj told Chinese media ahead of his visit: “There is great potential for developing cooperation between China, Mongolia and Russia in the railway transport sphere.
