Growth in Brazil’s mobile market continued in April, albeit at a slower pace when compared to the previous month, reaching 273.6 million, as net additions slumped to just 15,490 subscribers from 860,210 in March. According to the telecoms regulator Anatel, market leader Vivo – controlled by Telefonica of Spain – increased its market share last month, ending April with 28.71% of the segment, up from 28.68% a month earlier. Number two operator TIM Participacoes (TIM Brasil) saw its slice of the pie contract marginally to 27.00% from 27.02%, while third-placed Claro Brasil (a unit of Mexico’s America Movil) also lost ground, with a market share of 25.03% from 25.13% previously. Locally owned Oi SA remains in fourth spot with a share of 18.52% of users, up from 18.49%.
