In April of 2014, Brazilian trade balance turned into a USD 506 million surplus, up from a USD 111.8 million surplus in the previous month and more than double what the market expected.

Exports surged 11.9 percent over the previous month to USD 19.72 billion in April, while imports rose 9.7 percent to USD 19.22 billion.

A year earlier, the country posted a USD 989 million gap.

Considering the first four months of 2014, Brazil accumulated a trade deficit of USD 5.566 billion.
