BRASILIA, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) — The Brazilian foreign ministry said Tuesday that Foreign Minister Luiz Alberto Figueiredo and his visiting British counterpart William Hague regard bilateral relations as “positive and friendly.”

At the 3rd Strategic Dialogue between the two nations, the two top diplomats discussed global peace and security issues, as well as ongoing trade talks between the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) and the European Union (EU).

They also lauded bilateral cooperation in such areas as trade, investment, education and science and technology.

Mercosur is a regional bloc comprising Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela and Brazil.
