The minister of the Secretariat of Strategic Matters of the Presidency of the Republic (SAE/PR) and president of the Applied Economics Research Institute (Ipea), Marcelo Neri, took part in a business lunch with the French ambassador Denis Pietton on the 2/26th, at the Embassy of France in Brazil. Besides the ambassador and the minister, the director of the French Agency of Development (AFD) in office in Brazil, Laurent Duriez and the directors of Ipea Renato Baumann and Rogério Boueri were present.

On the occasion, a technical cooperation agreement was signed between Ipea and AFD targeted at the development of studies on economic and social aspects of Brazil and Latin America. Among the themes to be worked on are: betterment of access to urban services, public policies assessment, sustainable urban development and a program of research on indicators of development.

By signing the agreement, the minister commented on the coincidence he has realized in that the relevant changes taking place in Brazil do so every ten years, in the years ending with number four. “It is not known why, by Brazil changes every ten years. We live now a moment of change and a lot is happening”, Marcelo Neri pointed out.
