BRICS nations unanimously adopted the Delhi Declaration at the 2026 summit in New Delhi, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with leaders including Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin, Masoud Pezeshkian, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed attending.
The declaration emphasized dialogue and diplomacy for peace in West Asia, opposed forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, and reaffirmed commitment to the UN Charter and international law.
BRICS endorsed India's call to eliminate terrorism in all forms, condemned the Pahalgam attack, and rejected double standards or linking terrorism to any religion, ethnicity, or civilization.
It criticized unilateral tariffs, protectionism, and trade restrictions contrary to WTO rules, while calling for smooth trade, resilient supply chains, and faster secure cross-border payments.
The declaration recognized women as leaders and growth drivers and supported cooperation on AI, digital economy, cybersecurity, SMEs, startups, agriculture, energy, transport, climate, health, and anti-corruption.
Leaders called for reform of the IMF, World Bank, and UN Security Council and for greater Global South participation in global rule-making; the next BRICS summit will be held in China.
