Brasilia: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has welcomed Brazil’s support for Beijing’s “One China policy” that states Taiwan is an inseparable part of China, in a sign of stronger bilateral ties with South America’s largest country.
At the end of a two-day visit, Wang made a stop in the north-eastern city of Fortaleza to meet President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at an air force base. There were no details of their meeting.
In Brasilia earlier, Wang said their two countries, both members of the BRICS group of leading emerging economies, must work together to build a multipolar world based on peace and security.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, who has been quietly pushing to grow the BRICS family, in the hope it will be a counter force to perceived Western dominance and established alliances like the G7.
