BRICS member states unanimously approved the New Delhi Declaration 2026 at the two-day summit in New Delhi.
The declaration expressed serious concern over unilateral tariffs and non-tariff trade barriers, saying such measures affect global trade and are inconsistent with WTO rules.
BRICS reaffirmed its support for a rules-based multilateral trading system and called for maintaining trade order in line with WTO rules.
The group criticized unilateral economic pressure measures imposed in violation of international law.
India chaired the summit, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the declaration's adoption, which was accepted without objection.
BRICS said the stance supports strengthening developing economies' role in the global economic system and reducing dependence on external economic pressure.
