BRICS leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the UNFCCC and its Paris Agreement in the New Delhi Declaration 2026.
They called on all countries to uphold existing climate commitments and scale up efforts to combat climate change.
The declaration emphasized full and effective implementation of the Paris Agreement, including mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, and means of implementation for developing countries.
BRICS leaders called for coordinated international action to enhance debt sustainability, expand fiscal space, and support sustainable development and climate financing.
They opposed unilateral, punitive, discriminatory and protectionist measures not in line with international law, including carbon-border-adjustment mechanisms.
They said such measures undermine developing countries' efforts to address climate impacts and increase adaptive capacity and resilience.
