The 18th BRICS summit is scheduled for 12-13 September 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
India holds the BRICS chairmanship for the fourth time, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosting the summit.
BRICS now has 11 full members and 10 partner countries; the full members cover about 47% of the world population and 40% of global GDP.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is confirmed to attend, while Chinese President Xi Jinping is reported as likely to visit India with a large delegation.
Brazil's President Lula is not expected to attend because of domestic elections; Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira will represent Brazil.
The summit agenda includes local-currency trade, cross-border payments, MSMEs, New Development Bank expansion, energy security, climate resilience, and reform of global institutions.
Bilateral meetings, including Modi-Putin and Modi-Xi discussions, are expected to be among the summit's key diplomatic events.
