Chinese Ambassador Xu Feihong said he spoke on behalf of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at a BRICS@20 session.
Xu presented four priorities for expanded BRICS cooperation: stronger strategic coordination, deeper economic cooperation, technology-driven innovation, and closer people-to-people exchanges.
In a separate message, Xu expressed condolences for deaths and injuries caused by severe storms and heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh.
On the sidelines of the BRICS foreign ministers meeting, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran had strengthened its regional position.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov linked tensions around the Strait of Hormuz to what he described as US-Israeli actions and said Iran was not responsible for the crisis.
