India, as the 2026 BRICS Chair, has issued invitations for the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting in May and the 18th Summit in September.
Diplomatic sources indicate challenges in forging a joint statement agreeable to both Iran and the United Arab Emirates regarding the West Asia conflict.
The Summit is scheduled for September 9-10 in New Delhi, with potential attendance from leaders of Russia, China, Brazil, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the UAE.
India's Ministry of External Affairs acknowledged that differing opinions among members directly involved in the conflict have hindered consensus.
Domestic opposition in India criticized the government's inability to convene counterparts and forge a BRICS statement on the conflict and energy crisis.
