- Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed a digital investment platform under the New Development Bank framework to mobilise private-sector funding for BRICS projects in trade, infrastructure, logistics and technology.
- Speaking to BRICS business leaders in New Delhi ahead of the summit, Putin said Russia was ready to cooperate on the Arctic Transport Corridor, North-South Transport Corridor, artificial intelligence, unmanned transport, finance, tourism and industry.
- Putin said BRICS economic cooperation was “not against anyone” and aimed to advance members’ national interests while remaining open to cooperation with the wider world.
- He said BRICS countries had produced more than 40 per cent of global GDP over the past five years, compared with 29 per cent for the G7, and accounted for more than half of global economic growth.
- Putin cited Mahindra, Huawei, Embraer, TPO and Rosatom as BRICS corporate examples, linking their rise to large domestic markets, urbanisation and technological capabilities.
- He criticised sanctions, trade restrictions, secondary sanctions, attacks on pipelines and seizures of maritime vessels, while saying Russia had faced more than 30,000 sanctions.
