Russia and Latin American nations can cooperate in technology-intensive manufacturing, changing the very nature of relations between the countries, Rostec Corporation CEO Sergei Chemezov said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to Chemezov, cooperation is possible in sought-after areas, including air traffic control systems, e-government systems, port infrastructure, the automotive industry, electronics and biopharmaceutical development.

“Cooperation with Russia in the high-technology sphere will let Argentina and other Latin American countries make a huge leap forward in the development of local technological competencies,” Chemezov wrote in an opinion piece published by the Brazilian Correio Brasiliense newspaper Tuesday.

Rostec is willing to offer organizational structures in Brazil and other BRICS economies “a technological shoulder to lean on” to facilitate their transition to high-technology manufacturing, Chemezov added.

According to Rostec, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico and Chile have declared their interest in developing cooperation with Moscow.

“Today we may be speaking of the emergence of the prerequisites for the development of a whole range of projects between three countries or more, that would bring together technological competencies of the BRICS countries and thus strengthen the national independence of each member state of this group,” Chemezov said.

He added that with new financial instruments such as the BRICS New Development Bank, would help the cause to strengthen to new technology platforms in BRICS.
